Evergreen Elementary School
-Lake Ariel, PA
A new elementary school in rural Pennsylvania had limited area for wastewater effluent disposal. Aqua Nova’s principal engineer, David Maciolek (*), designed a compact wetland based treatment system with toilet flushing reuse to reduce disposal requirements. The “Living Machine” treatment system (**) is located in a greenhouse to serve as an educational space and allow for easy access for operation and maintenance.
The project services included design, permit approval, installation oversight, and startup. The system was commissioned August 2011. Aqua Nova has provided operations support to the school district operator since commissioning.
